The Nottingham Emmanuel School was one of only two schools in the City to be awarded the Sportsmark Award. Sportsmark is awarded annually and rewards delivery of PE, the range of sports offered and the high percentage of students involved. Schools Minister Jim Knight announced the awards in November, saying, 'The revival of school sport is one of the biggest success stories in education. Schools and teachers deserve to be recognised for the way they have increased PE and sports participation, especially through after-school clubs.’ Well done to all staff and students involved in achieving this national recognition of excellence!

Students are being given the opportunity to participate in some inline skating lessons during PE lessons this Spring. Volunteers from the National Ice Centre attend school each Wednesday providing all safety equipment and skates to enable 20 students at a time to learn to skate and how to fall over! They have also played basketball, hockey and dodge ball on skates! All in all, over 80 students will have the opportunity to try this new activity.
